Slider graphics have become a widely used trend in web design. They come in all shapes and sizes, and are only limited by your imagination in how they look and perform. Creating these sliders in Photoshop is extremely easy to do. In this short tutorial I will run through my process for creating a slider graphic using layer styles.
Over the past few weeks I’ve been asking questions to the design community here at WeGraphics, and it’s been very interesting and a lot of fun reading through your answers. I thought it would be a good idea to collect all of these Blank Slate questions into one post for ease of use. The conversations are still going strong so please click a link below and let your opinion be heard!
Our wallpaper of the week this week is by a designer from Rohais, Guernsey named Ange Simon. If you haven’t seen Ange’s work on deviantArt or Behance, your missing out on some amazing photo manipulations. This piece is titled “Infinite”. I really love the use of light in this work. Ange’s ability to paint with light is apparent in all of her work. Check out her website at http://kreattiv.co.uk/
Nothing says “Eye Candy” like a great 3D design. Using 3D elements can make a poster, book cover or magazine ad pop off of the page. In the past we’ve had to resort to 3rd party software to export 3D elements so that we could incorporate them into our 2D design world within Photoshop. Well that’s all changed. If your using Photoshop CS5 then you’re already tinkering in the realm of 3D design. In the tutorial below I will show you how to dabble a bit in Photoshop’s built in 3D tools.
This week we have a very interesting minimalist design from Dario Calonaci. Dario is a 21 year old designer from Florence, Italy who specializes in photo manipulations, matte paintings, and logo design. You can check out more of Dario’s work on his Behance Portfolio.
Post your art on the WeGraphics Flickr Community and show off your skillz. Share the work you’ve created using WeGraphics resources! We’d love to see it, and it might be featured here as one of our top picks in the coming weeks.
Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin, Soviet pilot and cosmonaut, was the first human being to journey into outer space, when his Vostok spacecraft completed an orbit of the Earth on April 12, 1961. In this step-by-step Photoshop tutorial, I will show you how to create a striking vintage-style poster design inspired by Yuri’s journey into space. We will combine stock photos, textures and brushes with blend mode techniques and filters on our way to achive the final design. If you are ready to get started then let’s get to it!
As designers we are often tasked with creating a brand for a business. Sometimes this is a simple logo design and collateral, and sometimes it’s a large scale brand strategy that includes everything from logo, imagery and style to secondary colors and usage rules. It’s always a fun gig to learn about what makes a brand tick and help to put a face on it. When a client truly understands the importance of branding and the message they want to convey, it can be very exciting to bring that message to life visually.
